“The Trunk” Kiss Scene Changes With A Behind-The-Scenes Fluke That “No One Noticed”

Netflix‘s new Korean melodrama The Trunk follows Seo Hyun Jin as No In Ji (a contract marriage provider), Gong Yoo as Han Jeong Won (a lonely music producer), and a mysterious trunk that changes everything. This emotionally raw series has shocked viewers with its explicit scenes but also warmed hearts with its tender ones.

In an interview for Netflix, Seo Hyun Jin and Gong Yoo discussed their complex characters and shared behind-the-scenes moments. One of these moments ended up making it into the final cut for this kiss scene.

Seo Hyun Jin excitedly pointed out a detail that “no one noticed”: the reflection of car headlights in the window. She said that the director “was so excited to have captured that, although it wasn’t planned.”

Although the lights add atmosphere to the scene, they also symbolize how In Ji is feeling during the kiss. “He said the lights seemed to symbolize how In Ji’s feelings are shifting toward Jeong Won,” Seo Hyun Jin explained. “He said, ‘Look at how her emotions flow!'”
