The story first came to the surface in 2017 on an MBN program dealing with real-life stories. The victim, Yoon Suhee (alias), had revealed her body full of tattoos on camera, each inked on her by her boyfriend Kim Dohun (alias). According to reports, the two started cohabitation after Kim, a fund manager, promised to marry her soon.

While the two lived together, Kim’s suspicion of his girlfriend cheating on him grew to a psychotic level. Even speaking to another man would earn Yoon sleuth of abuse from her boyfriend. This behavior led to Yoon completely avoiding any sort of association with other men. She even stopped taking male clients at her yoga studio.

However, one day, Kim spotted Yoon talking to the building’s security guard about a delivery. As soon as he came home, he ripped off her clothes and tattooed her body as a form of punishment.

He covered her back, arms, and legs with phrases such as, “I will never look at another man,” “I swear to love only Kim Dohun until the day I die,” and “I will never have any contact with another man,” etc. She also had smaller phrases like “Kim Dohun♥️Yoon Suhee,” “Curfew at 8 pm,” etc inked on her arms.

As a result of these humiliating tattoos, Yoon had to cover up her entire body, avoiding sleeveless or short clothing. She kept her mouth shut after Kim threatened to leak her private pictures. Eventually, her mother discovered them and reported Kim to the police. Her boyfriend reportedly threatened Yoon even at the time of the arrest.

The story resurfaced after an X account posted an excerpt of the MBN episode, garnering over 2.8 million views at the time of writing. International netizens were left shocked and called for better protection of Korean women.
