Netizens Are Shocked This Almost 7-Year-Old Group Only Has 2 Music Show Wins
For K-Pop groups, there are many different awards you can receive as a mark of your accomplishments. Each year, multiple awards shows honor the achievements of groups.
Another huge moment for idols, besides the massive accomplishment of making their debut, is when they win their first music show. Weekly music programs like KBS‘s Music Bank, SBS‘s Inkigayo, and Mnet‘s MCountdown award the highest-ranking song of the week.
These first wins are usually highly emotional and sometimes very long-awaited.
There is one K-Pop boy group who not only waited many years for their first win but, in the almost seven years since their debut, have only won twice.
PENTAGON made their debut in 2016, with “Gorilla,” immediately catching fans’ eyes. They were nominated for several “Best New Artist” awards, winning at the Soribada Best K-Music Awards and Asia Model Awards.
The group saw great success with their 2019 release “Shine,” ranking high domestically and placing sixth on Billboard’s World Digital Song chart.
Even with this success, the group did not achieve their first win until the release of “Daisy” in October 2020. The group won first place on MTV‘s The Show, much to the joy of fans. The group even gave a special shout-out to member Jinho, who had begun his military enlistment.
After this win, the group released a few more albums, steadily gaining more popularity both in Korea and abroad. The group’s most recent Korean album, In:vite U, featuring the title track “Feelin’ Like,” earned them their second music show win on Music Bank in February 2022.
On a viral TikTok discussing their releases, netizens couldn’t help but show their surprise that the group did not have more wins under their belt, especially with how talented they all are!

Following leader Hui’s participation in Boys Planet, the group released a Japanese single titled “Shh” and have announced two concerts in Tokyo.
Hopefully, the talented group will receive more music show awards with their next release!
