Why Korean Netizens Are Convinced “Queen Of Tears” Will Have A Happy Ending

Hit tvN K-drama Queen of Tears is nearing its conclusion, and fans are buzzing with predictions and excitement for a potential happy ending. With just two episodes left, the stakes are high for the main couple, portrayed by Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Ji Won, whose tumultuous love story has captivated viewers.
The much-loved on-screen couple has been once again separated by the schemes of the series’ antagonist, Yoon Eun Sung (played by Park Sung Hoon). After finally making the decision to undergo a difficult surgery that eventually results in losing her memories, Hong Hae In finds herself alone in a hospital room as she wakes up. Her husband, Baek Hyun Woo, had been taken away by the police just moments before her awakening after he was framed for murder by Yoon Eun Sung.
The separation had all viewers of the show in tears, as the “couple of the century” would have to overcome yet another hurdle to be with each other. Even K-Pop idols shared their despair online! But with two episodes left, the K-Drama has all the time it needs to get back on the viewers’ good side. Fans are convinced the couple will eventually be together again despite Hae In’s memory loss and Eun Sung’s evil plans.
First, during an emotional scene, Baek Hyun Woo reminisces about Hong Hae In as snow falls, seeing in his mind the enduring balsam stain on her fingernail — a symbol of hope and possible foreshadowing of their reunion. Balsam staining is an ancient Korean nail-dying technique — it’s also part of the belief that if your balsam stain remains even after the first coat of snow, your first love will come true. Seeing as Hae In’s nail dye didn’t change or vanish, fans think this may be a hint at the couple reuniting soon.

Another small detail that not many have noticed has to do with a certain painting in Hong Hae In. In a montage during which Yoon Eun Sung is changing everything in Hae In’s house, a bright abstract painting remains. The piece of art has often been related to Hong Hae In’s occasional blurred vision and memory loss due to her illness, and now fans see the painting’s bright and cheerful tones as a hint toward the show’s happy ending.
