An Upcoming Boy Group Gains Attention For Their “Suggestive” Group Name

When you think of a K-Pop group, some of the things that come to mind are the members’ talents and skills. But even before that, you think of the group’s name.

Some groups’ names are simple explanations of their group, like GOT7…

…others like SEVENTEEN have names that represent meanings other than the number of people in the group. …

…or ones like TEEN TOP that are acronyms with a deeper meaning (Teenage Emoboy Emotion Next Generation Talent Object Praise).

Regardless of their meaning, the name is one of the more essential aspects of a group’s introduction.

This can be seen in how IST Entertainment‘s newest boy group rapidly changed their name after making their debut. ATBO was initially called a different name with multiple potential meanings, including a racial slur.

While this upcoming boy group’s name is not offensive, it is a bit suggestive and has caught attention.

On May 19, Thailand-based H.LAND Entertainment shared that it would debut its newest group this summer, introducing the five members individually after. The group comprises five men hailing from Thailand, Korea, and China.

The group’s name Plan B was shared to represent that the group are more powerful than “plan a” in a message on their album’s teaser image.

Plan B, which did not make the common choice of Plan A.
As much as it is presented as a multinational band, the group focused on the individuality of each member and the attractive combination and chemistry within the group. As all the members have worked hard to finally become a part of Plan B, they are even more powerful than Plan A, and will become like sharp secret weapons.

While this is a meaningful explanation of the name, Plan B is also the name of a contraceptive pill and is often used instead of similar pills’ names.

Contraceptives are taken after sex to prevent pregnancies from occurring and are referred to as “morning-after pills.”

Many interested in the group couldn’t help but comment on the name, cracking jokes.
