“Grown As Hell” — Rookie K-Pop Group Gain Attention For Having Women In Their Debut Video

Will you be checking out their debut?

When K-Pop groups debut, companies sometimes have their idols try out different concepts to draw in fans. For example, including aespa’s AI counterparts in their debut imagery made an impact in communities outside of K-Pop.

A new boy group has now attracted attention for pushing the boundaries with their debut music video.

NOMAD is a self-producing group made up of five members under NOMAD Entertainment. The group gained attention before their debut after netizens discovered their content and shared information about them.

Their pre-release “Lights On” sampled Mayada El-Hennawy‘s “Alouli Ansa,” which was used in  Aaliyah‘s “More Than A Woman.”

Another detail that pre-debut fans liked is that all members are adults, with member Junho being the youngest at 21.

The group officially debuted on February 28 with the title track “No Pressure.”

While groups’ MVs often include women in the background, they usually do not interact with the group’s members. This is especially true for newer boy groups, as fans sometimes react negatively to women touching the members.

However, during one part of NOMAD’s music video, two women’s hands caressed the member’s face sensually.

A video shared on TikTok expressed that being a fan of NOMAD wasn’t “for the weak,” as viewers expressed interest in the group.
