NU’EST’s Minhyun Reveals How Strong He Is Mentally And How That Helped Him Get Through Tough Times
An online community board posted snippets from a past interview with NU’EST’s Minhyun and revealed just how strong-minded and focused he was a person and member of the group.
When it comes to a strong focus and mind-set, Minhyun is prepared! He reveals that he mood doesn’t change depending on his mood an can easily brush off bad things that happen to him.
I don’t have any changes to my mood, I don’t cry a lot, and I can brush off bad things easily. When I see hate comments I think to myself ‘Why do these people think like this?’ and forget about in just one minute. I also sleep really well. If I put my mind to it, I can fall asleep in about 30 seconds. It might look like I don’t think too much about anything, but it’s because of this personality I have that I can stay happy and stress-free.
His confidence and trust in himself in his members helped him get through the ups and downs of being an idol and ultimately made who he is today.
In our fourth or fifth year since debut, we were having a tough time money-wise and mentally. We could see our concert stages getting smaller during our world tours too. But I had the trust and confidence that things would get better in time. I didn’t want to waste any time so after practice I would come home and study Japanese. It is because of my strong-will and trust that I was able to withstand all the hardships. Even when we did finally reach the spotlight, I didn’t experience growing pains. I think it was because I knew that someday I would become a great star.
He continues to live his life free of anything negative or harmful to him so that he can continue to do what he loves in a healthy way.
I don’t drink alcohol, coffee or smoke. Because my job is shown to the public, I like to keep a good image. I always want to show my fans my best image. They gave me the title of being the proper one after seeing how I lived during my trainee days and sometimes this title can give me a bit of pressure. I guess I can’t do a lot of things if I live too properly and they aren’t wrong. Haha.
When asked what it means to be an adult, he felt that having patience was the most important.
I’ve grown quite a lot. When we were younger, we just did what we were told to do. But now, we have to everything on our own. My members and I work together to create our set lists and we are able to express our more opinions more. I think the most important thing to becoming an adult is patience. It is because of patience that I am able to stand on this stage now. I am now finally an adult.
In terms of enemies and allies, he feels confident that he can even make enemies his friends.
I am usually nice to everyone and am respectful to everyone I meet. I can’t say things that might offend someone, but if I really have to I try to say it in the softest way possible. I try my best ot not make any enemies. If I do have an enemy, I try to make them my friend. You can hate me if you don’t know me, but once you get to know me, I’m sure you will be on my side.
His ultimate goal is to make anyone smile, even if it’s just a small one.
I hope that anything that I do, whether that is music or some other content, I hope that I can put a smile on someone’s face. I don’t even ask for someone to be influenced or gain strength from me. I just want to make everyone feel happy and smile even just a little bit through me.
Minhyun has continued to show only his best through every comeback and has shown improvement each time. NU’EST recently came back with their new album The Nocturne and their title track “I’m In Trouble.”
