One Year Later — Where Is Rain’s “Failed” K-Pop Group?
Last June, the first announcement of KCON LA artists sparked an unexpected backlash centered around one of the artists. Rain, a legendary artist, was the cause of this, all linked to the treatment of the boy group under his label.
In 2021, the boy group Ciipher debuted under the label, and many fans were excited to see some familiar faces in the lineup. Following a release in 2022, the group entered a lengthy hiatus without any activities.
However, many expected their activities to increase due to Keita‘s participation in Boys Planet and Hyunbin‘s participation in Fantasy Boys.
This did not occur, leading to a backlash against Rain for mismanaging the group.
In the year since this protesting, many things have happened with CIIPHER.
For one, the line-up has changed, with members Tan, TAG, Dohwan and Won leaving the group. Following his departure, Tan appeared in a short form drama series 세 명이서 결혼 생활 중입니다.
Based on his Instagram bio, it seems Dohwan is currently a student in the department of applied music at Donga Institute of Media And Arts. In the case of Won, the artist has continued to release music, including his track “Even If It’s a Lie” featuring Dohwan.
TAG has since re-debuted as a member of ONE PACT, a five-membered group that includes contestants of Boys Planet.
For the members remaining in CIIPHER, there have been no group activities. Member Hwi is active on Instagram, sharing bits of his life and some dance covers. Hyunbin is less active, with his most recent post being a cover of Choi Yuree‘s “Forest.”

Keita has re-debuted as a member of EVNNE, another Boys Planet spin-off group. The group’s most recent release was in January 2024, and they are set to be active until March 2025.
The announcement of the four members’ departure also stated that the group would reorganize with a new line-up, which has yet to occur.
