Members Of P-Pop Group SB19 Once Met BTS, And Now They’re Both Dominating The Charts
Filipino K-Pop fans were awed when SB19 released “GO UP” in 2019. Their clean moves, similar to other trained K-Pop groups, were one of a kind in P-Pop. They immediately gained a strong following thanks to their talent, visuals, and personalities.
While fans know that SB19 trained under a Korean entertainment system, some aren’t aware that several members actually have a history in cover dancing.
Members Stell and Josh were once part of Se-Eon, a dance cover group that was active in 2011.
Their incredible dance moves made them a force to be reckoned with in the dance scene of the early 2010’s.
Though they covered EXO, BIGBANG, INFINITE, and more groups, their main artist focus was BTS.
After winning Pinoy K-Pop Star 2014 organized by the Korean Cultural Center, Se-Eon represented the Philippines in K-Pop Festival in Incheon. It was here where they covered BTS‘s “Danger” and showed off their synchronized and powerful dance moves.
Better yet, they actually met the BTS members themselves! Stell and Josh could be seen shyly approaching the group after their performance. They took individual photos with the members, with the former taking selfies with Jungkook and J-Hope.
At the time of their meeting, BTS was still slowly gaining popularity in the K-Pop scene. They were excited to meet a group that specialized in their dances, something that was uncommon for them at that point.
Like how BTS is now synonymous to “K-Pop,” SB19 is leading the P-Pop scene in the Philippines. The latter, for instance, reached second place on Billboard‘s Social 50 chart only a year after their debut. Amazingly, they ranked just behind BTS in August 2020.
Their humble meeting a few years ago was only the start of both of their paths to stardom.
