Who Is Qimir? Mysterious “Star Wars: The Acolyte” Character Fuels Fan Theories
Spoiler Alert
Throughout the years, the Star Wars franchise has continued to grow outside of the film series, expanding to include stories in an episodic format on the small screen.
Most recently, on June 4, Disney+ added Star Wars: The Acolyte‘s first two episodes to the platform.
Set 100 years before the events of The Phantom Menace, Star Wars: The Acolyte follows a Jedi investigation into a series of crimes. Amandla Stenberg stars as a pair of dark and light twins, Mae and Osha, the forming trained under Sol, played by Squid Game actor Lee Jung Jae.
Also included in the cast is actor Manny Jacinto as Qimir, a former smuggler who now lives a life of leisure as a trader.
Following the first two episodes, Jacinto’s character has already unlocked some fan theories about who Qimir really is.
A fight scene in the show has made many believe that Qimir is not just a trader but has some official training because he easily avoids Mae’s attacks.

So we all agree Qimir dodged Mae's attacks a little too easily to just be some guy right 🤨 pic.twitter.com/9AvA03Vyz4

Most theories believe that he is on the Dark Side of the Force, and is actually the mysterious masked “Darth Teeth” that has made an appearance. “Darth Teeth” is considered a Sith Lord in many of these theories and the ultimate bad guy of the series.
Manny Jacinto’s Qimir reveals exceptional fighting skill by handily reversing Mae’s ambush. Qimir’s restraint spares a bewildered Mae from death by her own blade…

I think its obviously Qimir. He quotes the Sith code and seemed to defend himself against Mae well despite being a regular guy https://t.co/cFgFfiUwPF pic.twitter.com/DpkqcMp0jO

This theory has been supported by the idea that Qimir has a split persona, much like Sheev Palpatine in the movie series. Palpatine was a senator turned Emperor of the Galactic Empire that was secretly Sith Lord Darth Sidious, and orchestrated a crisis to instate his Palpatine person in power.
so Qimir is totally the Sith Lord right? he's hitting Mae with the Sidious/Palpatine split. the Sith Lord persona on the one hand and then the "I'm just a boy I'm just a little birthday boy" ally persona that he uses to influence her without her realizing it's still him

Other theories believe that Qimir is a Sith Lord himself pulling strings behind the scenes rather than up front. This theory revolves around the mysterious masked character being an apprentice, and Mae being an Acolyte (the first level of the Sith order).
My current theory is that he is not the big bad, I think he is the Sith Apprentice and his taking Mae as his apprentice to overthrow his own master and we will find out that Qimir is the Sith master pulling the strings. #TheAcolyte https://t.co/C8HhsVtoaB
