3 Of A 5th Gen Girl Group’s Members Got Kicked Out Of School
YouTuber Mimi Minu (also known as MMMN) recently interviewed and played games with a rookie group on his show, Is This Song Popular 2. The group, QWER, previously guested on Season 1 of the show.
During the interview portion of the episode, Mimi Minu asked Chodan, Magenta, Siyeon, and Hina about their pre-debut education and more. QWER on October 18, 2023 with their first single album, Harmony from Discord.
Magenta has been hoping to enroll at Seoul National University of Science and Technology, but unfortunately her test scores weren’t high enough. She attended Kyungpook National University instead, but Mimi Minu quickly pointed out that she hadn’t graduated.
After hearing from professors and students how little money she would potentially make in the arts, Magenta took a leave of absence to pursue part-time modeling and influencer jobs. In the end, she was “dismissed” from school, but she’s still putting her art skills to use as an idol.

Hina realized she wanted to pursue music while she was in high school, but like Magenta, she was discouraged from working in the arts. Both her teachers and her mother encouraged her to choose a more stable career, and so, since she traveled a lot when she was younger, Hina went to school to become a flight attendant as an airline service major while also majoring in music.
She began university in 2020, but after the COVID-19 pandemic hit, Hina took a leave of absence. During her leave, she saw success on TikTok and Instagram, so she kept extending her leave until her school wouldn’t allow her to keep extending it. And so, like Magenta, Hina was dismissed!
When Hina said this, Chodan revealed that she had also been dismissed from school!
The only QWER member who isn’t in the so-called “dismissal crew” is Siyeon, but she didn’t graduate either. She dropped out!
