Here Is The Reason Why BTS’s RM Took A While To Purchase His Own Home
BTS‘s RM reportedly took a little longer to purchase his home than other BTS members, and the reason why makes total sense.
RM purchased an apartment in the same luxury complex as Jin, complex Hannam The Hill, reportedly around November of 2019. He then sold the apartment before purchasing another one in March of 2021, this time in the luxurious Nine One Hannam complex. Fellow BTS member Jimin also purchased an apartment there, making them neighbors. RM’s apartment, which measures a comfortable total of 293.93 square meters, reportedly cost him around 6.3 billion KRW, or around 5.69 million USD—a price which he paid fully in cash since Korean law does not permit housing loans that exceed 15 billion won.
As one of, if not the, most expensive places to live in South Korea, the Nine One Hannam complex is nestled in a prime location in Seoul, overlooking the river. Consisting of nine buildings, the complex offers complete privacy and maximum security through a four-step verification system, making it an ideal place to live for celebrities such as RM, Jimin, and their famous neighbors So Ji Sub, Jun Ji Hyun and G-Dragon.
But despite all the benefits to living in such a place, RM took longer than other members to buy a home of his own. Though fans got to know the inside of the luxury dorm that BTS still held quite well, RM and Jimin were the only members still regularly living in the dorm as of early 2021. Living in a dorm has often been said to be a more convenient option for idols who have busy schedules that require them to spend a lot of time and travel together.
In fact, the reason why RM took longer to decide to buy his own property was mostly because he felt like he would not be able to enjoy it, seeing as his busy schedule with BTS would barely allow him to spend quality time there. Given BTS’s constant activity and multiple travels, not only would he not have much time to enjoy his own space, but staying at the dorm would also have been the better option for ease of movement.
Now, however, RM seems to finally be enjoying living in his own home, giving fans the occasional peek into his space (and his library) through his Instagram account.
Given how expensive the cost of his home was, it makes sense that RM hesitated to spend money on something that he felt like he wouldn’t be able to appreciate properly at the time. After all, RM is known for being someone who does things thoughtfully and deliberately. It’s great to see him enjoying his space now that he is able to!
