Red Velvet’s Seulgi Explains The True Intention Behind The Title Of “28 Reasons”
Red Velvet‘s Seulgi appeared in the 12th episode of Showterview With Sunmi to promote her first solo extended play, or EP, 28 Reasons.
In the interview, Sunmi asked the question many of Seulgi’s fans, dubbed as ReVeluvs, have been dying to ask, “Why is it called ’28 Reasons’?” Seulgi didn’t directly answer at first, saying, “You know, when you are in love with someone, as much as you care about them, you also wanna mess with them as a kid.”
Her statement, referring to the childlike courtship of teasing the person you like, seemed to be going in the opposite direction of the dark horror-thriller vibe of her music video. She went on to elaborate, “I’m 28 now. I have 28 reasons why I love you, and I wanna mess with you, but it’s a little hardcore.”
Sunmi’s reaction to the beginning of the song “I kiss your brother,” which also shocked many fans, says it all.
Seulgi explained that the song was about a mature version of that playfulness that has gone too far and doing everything to mess with the person you like.
Based on the concept, Sunmi correctly assumed that Seulgi was very popular in school, and many boys showed their affection for her by pulling her hair and teasing her!
The questions ended with Sunmi’s age being exposed after she revealed that the pranks boys played on her were when they played Gomujulnori, a traditional South Korean children’s game played by older generations.
Fans have Sunmi to thank for revealing the real reason behind the title of Seulgi’s first solo debut single.
