Before becoming an actress, Lee Sung Kyung aspired to be a pianist and worked toward the dream until she was in middle school.

When preparing to enter a music school for college, shifted her focus to becoming a model after her parents encouraged her to answer an ad looking for supermodels.

After officially becoming a model and appearing in commercials, she caught the attention of director Kim Kyu Tae, who was looking to cast a role in the popular 2014 K-Drama, It’s Okay, That’s Love.

The role was pivotal in launching Lee Sung Kyung’s acting career, but it wasn’t the role that solidified to herself that she was an “actress.

Instead, she credited her starring role as Kim Bok Joo in the 2016 K-Drama Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo as the role that made her feel she “was finally becoming an actress.

For the role, she underwent a physical transformation to gain weight in a short period of time, showing her dedication to her craft.

Lee Sung Kyung continues to challenge herself by taking on new and exciting roles and recently starred in Dr. Romantic 3 and Call It Love in 2023.
