Idol-Actor Goes From Crushing On An Older Woman To Falling For Her Daughter
While watching Romance in the House, some longtime K-Drama fans noticed a tiny, entertaining detail.
Romance in the House, which began airing on August 10, is about a man who abandons his family after going bankrupt and divorcing his wife. 14 years later, he returns as a multi-millionaire, but he can’t buy his way back into this family. Before divorcing, the lead couple Byeon Moo Jin (Ji Jin Hee) and Geum Ae Yeon (Kim Ji-Soo) had two children: daughter Byeon Mi Rae (Apink‘s Naeun) and son Byeon Hyeon Jae (Yoon San Ha).
Mi Rae has become an overworked food merchandiser at the J Plus mart, where her mother also works. After fainting from exhaustion, she is carried to the hospital by J Plus’s security guard Nam Tae Pyeong (played by SHINee‘s Minho). Little does she know that he is actually the son of the J Plus’s owner.
In Romance in the House, actress Kim Ji Soo plays the mother of Minho’s love interest, but this isn’t the first time they’ve starred in the same K-Drama.
Kim Ji Soo and Minho were both in the 2016 K-Drama Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth. Minho played a hot-blooded and chivalrous aristocrat who falls in love with Kim Ji Soo’s character, the acting Queen Regent. At the time of Hwarang‘s release, Minho was 25, and Kim Ji Soo was 44. They had a 19-year age difference.
Now, Kim Ji Soo is 51, and Minho is 32: two years older than his new love interest, Naeun.
