SEVENTEEN Displays Outstanding Successes Ahead Of The Release Of Their Seventh Mini-Album

Their past, present, and future is full of nothing but impressive accomplishments.

SEVENTEEN has become a group synonymous with strong stage presence, outstanding performances, and an unshakable brotherhood. They’re both a critical and fan favorite, and have shown no signs of slowing down even after five years in the business. They’ve continued to top domestic and international charts with both their slower, more emotional songs as well as their more upbeat and energetic songs. Ahead of the release of their seventh mini-album, here’s a look back at last year, 2019, arguably SEVENTEEN’s most successful year.

At the beginning of 2019, the group released their single “Home,” the lead single from their You Made My Dawn mini-album. Over the course of its promotions, it went on to become their winningest song on music shows with ten total wins. It grew particularly meaningful to Carats, as SEVENTEEN was singing that they are and will always be Carats’ home.

The group’s most recent studio album, An Ode, released late last year, also showed the charting and selling power of the group. In just the first four days after its release, the album achieved over 500,000 album sales, and earlier this year surpassed 1,000,000 total unit sales (sum total of international sales and other forms of purchasing other than physical albums, i.e., digital purchases or downloads). The United World Chart listed An Ode as #36 in their “Best 40 Albums of 2019” list, and the album also went on to win a Disc Bonsang at the 2020 Golden Disc Awards and the Album of the Year Daesang at the 2019 Asia Art Awards, among several others.

An Ode has earned other achievements in addition to its impressive award show wins. One day after it was released, the album took the top spot on iTunes Albums: K-Pop Albums chart in 24 countries, including the United States, Canada, Indonesia, and Vietnam. The album’s title track “Fear” reached the #1 spot on iTunes Song: Foreign Songs charts in 13 countries, including the United Kingdom, France, and Singapore.

The album title also influenced the name for their “SEVENTEEN World Tour: Ode to You,” which included stops in Japan, Indonesia, Thailand, the United States, Mexico, and the Philippines. Unfortunately, the remainder of the tour throughout the rest of Southeast Asia and Europe was canceled due to Covid-19, but there is still hope that the group will be able to make their way there to perform live for their fans.

Flash forward to this year to when SEVENTEEN’s second Japanese single “Fallin’ Flower” was certified double platinum in Japan. The achievement was made only a month and a half after it was released, one that is met when that sales exceed 500,000 total shipments; over half of those sales came within a week of the song’s release. Before achieving that status, it had already topped Oricon’s daily and weekly charts. The group’s previous Japanese single “Happy Ending” also charted and garnered over 200,000 unit sales, which has made SEVENTEEN the first overseas male artist to have two consecutive years of this kind of chart and sales success.

SEVENTEEN is set to release their seventh mini-album Henggarae on June 22 with their lead track titled “Left & Right.” The album has already surpassed 110,000 pre-orders, and professionals in the music industry are predicting that it will pass one million sales before the comeback officially begins promotions.

Fans never know what to expect from SEVENTEEN, as they have become masters of changing concepts, looks, and sound, but also manage to still remain true to themselves. They’ve shown that they can excel at any and every musical style, evident through their diverse discography that consists of songs like “Adore U,” “Snap Shoot,” “CLAP,” “Good To Me,” “VERY NICE,” and “Don’t Wanna Cry.” Even if Carats don’t know what to expect, what they do know for certain is that, regardless of what the sound or concept turns out to be, that SEVENTEEN will give it their all for their fans.

Ahead of their mini-album release on June 22, SEVENTEEN has released two music videos for tracks on the mini-album: “My My” and “Us, Again.” Check them out below:
