SEVENTEEN’s Vernon Shares The Inspiration Behind His Charli XCX Remix And How He Feels About The Release
SEVENTEEN‘s Vernon recently released a remix of Charli XCX’s “Beg For You” after hype for the collaboration gained traction on Twitter. Here’s how he really feels about the release.
Fans have been hoping for a collab between Vernon and Charli XCX after the SEVENTEEN member revealed that he was an avid listener of her music. So when it was confirmed that Vernon would be releasing a remix of the English singer’s track, fans were thrilled.
Vernon expressed what it was like discovering Charli XCX’s music and what he likes about it.
It was a whole new world for me, really. I feel vulnerability, but at the same time, invincibility in her music. There’s something really beautiful about it.

For the “Beg For You” project, Vernon reached out to Bumzu, who has been integral in helping make SEVENTEEN’s music. The pair eventually settled on a melody that can be attributed to the folk song used in the Korean version of the children’s game “Red Light, Green Light,” which gained global popularity after being featured in Netflix’s Squid Game.
Bumzu shared what he thinks of Vernon as an artist and as a person.
I’d describe him as a person who ‘does a lot of research about himself.’ If he hears me saying this, he’ll probably cover his mouth and laugh in embarrassment, but Vernon is a guy full of deep thoughts about his life … Especially when it comes to creating, he has his own unique and definite color.
— Bumzu
Charli XCX tweeted Vernon her thanks for his participation on the song, and Vernon responded thanking her as well.

When talking about getting to work on the song, Vernon thanked Charli XCX for considering him.
I’m still having a hard time grasping this reality. I just really want to say thank you to Charli for acknowledging my existence. It’s truly an honor to be a part of her music.
