What Do SM Entertainment Artists Do Backstage During “SMTOWN LIVE” Shows?
Since 2008, SM Entertainment has hosted annual concerts that gather many of the “Big 3” company’s top stars for one epic show, SMTOWN LIVE.
Most recently, SM Entertainment artists TVXQ, Super Junior, Red Velvet, NCT, WayV, aespa, and RIIZE performed at SMTOWN Live 2023 : SMCU Palace@Jakarta, a concert that took place in September.
As multiple artists gather, each with their own scheduled time to rehearse and perform during SMTOWN LIVE shows, how do they keep themselves occupied while they wait for their turn to perform on stage?
Recently, aespa gave fans an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at their backstage activities, showing just how close SM Entertainment artists are!
In their downtime, aespa was able to greet their junior labelmate, RIIZE, as a senior group for the first time.
As the aespa members continued to prepare for the show, Karina admitted she was bored, so she wanted to take MYs (aespa’s fandoms) on a “dance challenge tour,” showing off the fun artist interactions backstage.
The first stop on the “dance challenge tour” was a meeting with RIIZE. Winter diligently learned the “Get A Guitar” dance from Shotaro before filming the final challenge video with the RIIZE members and fellow aespa member Karina.
Next was a meeting with NCT’s Jaehyun. With Winter, he filmed a fun “Baek Yi Jin” (the lead male character from Twenty-Five Twenty-One) parody mash-up video with NCT U‘s song “Baggy Jeans.”
Afterward, they filmed aespa’s “Better Things” dance challenge, and Giselle filmed a version with NCT’s Taeyong as well.
After opening the concert, aespa again returned to their TikTok activities; this time NingNing and Karina joined NCT’s Ten to film two more dance challenges.
It seems even when they’re not working hard on stage, the SM Entertainment artists continue to stay busy behind the scenes in order to support each other and make memorable content for fans!
