The “Squid Game: The Challenge” Game That Required Stunt Doubles
Spoiler Alert
The Netflix thriller K-Drama Squid Game quickly became one of Netflix’s most-watched series of all time as fans devoured each episode, eager for more when the first season came to an end. In only one month, the series reached over 111,000,000 viewers.
Season two officially received the green light in June 2022, and fans are already looking forward to the new actors joining the cast, including Im Si Wan (also known as ZE:A‘s Im Siwan), Kang Ha Neul, Lee Jung Jae, Park Sung Hoon, Jo Yuri, Choi Seunghyun (also known as T.O.P), and more.
While fans eagerly await the next season, they recently had new Squid Game-related content to enjoy when the reality competition program, Squid Game: The Challenge, was released on November 22.
During Squid Game: The Challenge, 456 contestants competed for a chance to win $4.56 million USD, the largest cash prize in reality show history.
Nine of the ten episodes have been released, with the finale scheduled to drop on December 6, and ahead of unveiling the winner, many contestants are already spilling the tea on what went on behind the scenes.
Many of the challenges shown in the new reality series came from the original show, including red light, green light, the dalgona challenge, marbles, and the glass bridge.
In a TikTok video, contestant Trey Plutnicki answered a fan’s question about the show’s filming. The fan wanted to know what happened when the contestants fell on the glass bridge.
Plutnicki revealed that the bridge was about 15 feet above the ground. Whenever contestants were eliminated, it was actually a stunt double who did the fall for them for safety reasons.
The eliminated contestants were asked to squat down quickly as if they were falling, and then the video was edited together with a clip of the stunt double actually performing the fall in their place.
