Stray Kids’ Bang Chan Candidly Addresses Fans’ Concerns About Being Overworked
K-Pop fans continually worry about their idols not being given adequate time to rest. Idols’ schedules often seem endless, with many artists typically even preparing future comebacks at the same time they’re promoting one.
Stray Kids are one group that has had an incredibly busy year, leaving their fans to call out JYP Entertainment often, encouraging the agency to let the group rest. Fans became especially concerned about the group after multiple members suffered injuries or illnesses during their world tour.
In one live broadcast, Stray Kids’ leader Bang Chan addressed fans’ concerns that the incredibly talented but busy artist and producer may not be getting sufficient rest.
During the broadcast, Bang Chan jokingly started explaining that he wanted fans to trust him and let him take care of his own health.
What I want from Stays is to… Is to leave me alone- No, I’m just joking!
— Bang Chan
Before more seriously explaining that he’s “the one that decided not to rest,” clearly indicating that JYP Entertainment isn’t preventing him from resting more.
I’m the one that decided to not rest and keep doing what I want to do. So keep that in mind. It’s not like anyone’s making me not rest, so don’t worry about that.
— Bang Chan
Bang Chan made sure fans realized that he is simply “doing what [he wants] to do.”
I am doing what I want to do, what I choose to do.
— Bang Chan
And added that fans don’t have to worry since he “[knows his] body more than [his fans do].”
And I know my body more than you guys, okay? It’s my own body, so I know that I can handle it.
— Bang Chan
In fact, Bang Chan even clarified that JYP Entertainment once told him to rest more, and it was his choice to continue working diligently before the group’s “very important schedules.”
The company actually told me, ‘You should really get some rest.‘ But I told them, ‘You know we have very important schedules for the rest of the year. I don’t want to rest. I want to keep on doing as much as I can.’
— Bang Chan
Although even Bang Chan joked about his mentality being “a little too healthy.”
My mentality is a little too healthy.
— Bang Chan
And the idol reassured fans that he would “make sure to not go too hard,” so they don’t need to worry.
I’ll make sure to not go too hard and just keep a decent tempo.
— Bang Chan
While it’s perfectly understandable that fans worry about their idols getting enough rest, Bang Chan was clear that, at least in his case, fans need to trust him to make the best decisions for himself.
