Former Idol Spills On The Interaction With Super Junior’s Eunhyuk That He’s Never Forgotten
UNDER19 was a survival show from MBC that started airing in 2018. Of the initial 57 trainees, the final top nine contestants debuted as a part of temporary group 1THE9.
Shihyun was a contestant in UNDER19 and debuted as a member of WE IN THE ZONE before the group’s disbandment in 2021. Shihyun has since remained active on Instagram and is often active as a streamer.
In one of his live streams with fans, Shihyun opened up about his experiences in UNDER19, specifically when his performance team worked with Super Junior‘s Eunhyuk on a collaborative stage.
In his stream, Shihyun explained that the trainees only had roughly one to two weeks to practice their performance.
Shihyun admitted that he especially found their dance break difficult. But he did his best to keep up and felt proud of how he finished the performance despite how challenging it was, only having made one mistake.
Although Shihyun didn’t know at the time and had to be informed by a staff member later, Eunhyuk talked about Shihyun in one of his interviews about the stage. Apparently, Eunhyuk had nothing but compliments for Shihyun, expressing his admiration for Shihyun’s talent and passion.
The compliment was especially meaningful to Shihyun since he had regretfully made a comment during UNDER19 that he thought might have negatively impacted Eunhyuk and the other mentors’ view of him.
Despite his comment, Shihyun worked diligently throughout the show to demonstrate his talent and passion for being an idol.
So Eunhyuk’s compliment made Shihyun feel acknowledged and proud of his efforts. He even cried over how impactful Eunhyuk’s kind words were.
Even now, years after the performance, Shihyun distinctly remembers that moment and still picks Eunhyuk as his absolute favorite K-Pop idol.
