Table Tennis Olympian And Her Girlfriend Go Viral For Being Couple Goals

They have been together for years!

As the 2024 Paris Olympics continue, many athletes have gone viral for things outside the competition. For example, a pair of athletes from China’s team gained international attention after a surprise proposal following a gold medal win.

Another athlete has constantly gained attention throughout the games, centered around her girlfriend’s social media posts.

Lily Zhang is a table tennis player on Team USA and has been on the national team for over a decade. This Olympic Games marks her fourth time competing in the games, having first represented the US in 2012 at the age of 16.

Many became more aware of Zhang this year because of the posts made by her girlfriend, Jessie. On her TikTok account, Jessie (@funtimewithjess) has shared her WAG (wife and girlfriends of sportsmen and women) lifestyle, including her initial travels to the games.

According to a video shared by Jessie, the pair met in 2017 while she was studying abroad on a dating app just before she was due to leave the area. Zhang took her to a ping-pong bar, where she “hustled” her, leaving her impressed.

Each stated that they had never felt they way they did with other people before.

Netizens have loved the peeks into the couple’s romance, including a cute video where Jessie gave a look at her day attending one of Zhang’s matches.

Zhang was sadly eliminated from the single’s competition after making it into the top 16, a Olympic first for the athlete. She will be competing again on August 6 during the doubles matches.

And we can surely look forward to competition-side updates from Jessie!
