The Thing Stopping ZEROBASEONE From Being A Permanent Group
The finale of Boys Planet introduced the world to the line-up that would debut as ZEROBASEONE.
Like many other survival show groups, ZEROBASEONE are currently limited to the time they will promote together. After their debut, their promotion time was revealed to be 2 years and 6 months, meaning their disbandment would occur in January 2026.
Naturally, fans have grown attached the the group as it is and do not wish for them to disband.
Recently, ZEROBASEONE’s leader Sung Hanbin spoke on the subject of contract renewals, giving some hope that the group would continue on past the set date.

There are several advantages ZEROBASEONE have in the regards of contract renewals.
For one, none of the members are currently in other groups. In the case of WANNA ONE and I.O.I, each of these groups had members that were already debuted, a contributing fact to their limited promotion time.
However, according to netizens, there is one obstacle in the way of ZEROBASEONE potentially becoming a permanent group.
While none of ZEROBASEONE are in other groups, many of the members are under different companies. Four members of the group — Ricky, Kim Gyuvin, Yujin, and Zhang Hao — are under Yuehua Entertainment.
Many have a negative opinion of Yuehua due to the company’s treatment of its’ other idols, including EVERGLOW and TEMPEST.
This negative opinion has led many to believe that rather than negotiate contracts, Yuehua would likely re-debut the four members in a group under the label and without WakeOne’s involvement and division of income.
It is worth noting that another group, Kep1er, managed by WakeOne did have all but two members extend their contracts. Only time will tell what will happen with ZEROBASEONE.
