3rd Gen Group Get Emotional Seeing Their Lightstick For The First (And Last) Time Before Disbandment

Hopefully, they’ll see it again in the future!

One of the biggest moments for a group is when they can announce their official lightstick design. In addition to being another way for fans to support a group, it can also be a marker of success, as not all groups last long enough to get a lightstick.

Recently, a third-gen group got emotional over seeing their lightstick for what might be the last time.

After months of speculation, the girl group Weki Meki announced they would make their final comeback on June 12. The single “Coincidestiny” was released that day, leaving them just short of seven years as a group.

Weki Meki was on hiatus before this comeback, with their last mini album being released in November 2021. However, in August 2022, the group announced the release of their first official fan light for their anniversary, which was believed to be a promise of future promotions.

As it turned out, there were no promotions until this latest comeback, during which the group were able to see fans with the lightstick for the first (and potentially last) time.

On June 28, the group held their last fansign, and a clip shared online by a fan shared this information.

In the clip, member Sei asks the fans to hold up the lightstick so she could take a photo.

Actually, there is something I really want to take a picture of with my cellphone. Could you all hold up the KiKi Bongs for us?”

— Sei

The members, already emotional, seem to have a range of reactions, including joy as Sei took her photo.

Fans were also sad over this moment, but expressed anger towards the company and accusing it of releasing it as a “cash grab.”
