The Third Generation Idol Who Annoyed Netizens By “Crying Too Much”
When idols do actions worthy of criticism, netizens quickly call them out. However, many K-Pop stars have received hate for reasons that would not warrant such adverse reactions, like former NU’EST member Ren getting hate for being “too pretty,”…
… or IVE‘s Jang Wonyoung for simply existing, it seems like, at times.
Another idol once received hate from netizens for crying too often while on television.
In 2012, the girl group EXID debuted, though with a different line-up than the current. The group struggled with popularity until a viral fan cam of Hani sent the song back on the charts and saved them from disbanding.
Following their surge in popularity, the group was able to make more show appearances, especially Hani, who quickly impressed viewers with her fun and charming personality.
Unfortunately, an aspect of Hani’s personality struck a nerve with viewers — her “constant” crying.
While the first instances of her crying were met with kindness from netizens, like when the group got their first music show win…
…subsequent instances only annoyed netizens more.
At one point, netizens “begged” that she get mental health treatment before making more TV appearances.
I really think she should rest… Shouldn’t she get treatment in this severity?

Despite this negativity, Hani has remained popular, debuting as an actress in 2019 and hosting Weekly Idol for a time. Her most recent drama appearance was in the Disney+ series Call It Love as one of the main cast members and EXID recently reunited to celebrate their tenth anniversary.
Hani is also in a public relationship, and in addition to her busy career, she has been studying psychology to help her juniors in the entertainment industry.
Regardless of what netizens have said in the past or present, Hani continues to live her best life!
