The Top 5 Artists With The Most #1 Singles On Billboard’s World Digital Song Sales Chart Are All K-Pop Artists
Billboard‘s World Digital Song Sales chart is a weekly list of the top 25 songs in the world based on sales within the United States. It launched in January of 2010, and “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” by Israel Kamakawiwoʻole has dominated the #1 spot for an incredible 335 weeks out of the 547 total weeks that it has existed.
However, although a K-Pop artist doesn’t have that specific title, the top 5 artists on the chart that have the most #1 total singles listed are all K-Pop artists!
Coming in at the #5 spot (or rather, the tied #3 spot since they all have the same amount of songs) are EXO, BIGBANG, and PSY, all with 4 songs each. EXO’s 4 songs that made the #1 spot on the list are “Monster”, “Love Shot”, “Lotto”, and “Obsession”. BIGBANG’s 4 songs are “Loser”, “BANG BANG BANG”, “Let’s Not Fall In Love”, and “Flower Road”. And finally, PSY’s 4 songs are “Gangnam Style” (which has the most weeks at the #1 spot on the chart after “Over the Rainbow, with 50 weeks spent there), “Gentleman”, “Hangover”, and “Daddy”.
BLACKPINK comes in at the #2 spot, with 5 of their songs coming in at #1 on the chart. They are “BOOMBAYAH”, “Playing with Fire”, “As If It’s Your Last”, “DDU-DU DDU-DU”, and “Kill This Love”.
And finally, as most would probably expect, BTS has the most #1 singles on the chart with a whopping 20 total! They are: “Fire”, “Blood Sweat & Tears”, “Spring Day”, “Not Today”, “DNA”, “Mic Drop”, “Don’t Leave Me”, “Fake Love”, “Idol”, “2! 3! (Still Wishing There Will Be Better Days)”, “Boy with Luv”, “Dream Glow”, “A Brand New Day”, “All Night”, “Heartbeat”, “Lights”, “Make It Right”, “Black Swan”, “On”, and most recently, “Stay Gold”.
With any luck, more K-Pop artists will continue to rank high on this coveted list!
