TVXQ’s Collaboration Stage With RIIZE Sparked An Unexpected “Competition”
TVXQ recently celebrated their 20th debut anniversary, appearing on the new variety show Curator to discuss their veteran idol status with host HoonD.
During the interview, the two SM Entertainment idols opened up about the 2023 MAMA Awards stage they shared with their newest labelmates, RIIZE.
SM Entertainment’s first second-generation K-Pop group and the company’s first fifth-generation K-Pop group performed TVXQ’s hit song “Rising Sun” together, stunning the audience and netizens alike with their incredible stage.
TVXQ leader Yunho explained that the idea for the collaboration stage came about because the concept for the song and the 5th gen group’s name has a “similar meaning.”
He added that he thought it would be cool for their junior group to join them on stage, and he praised RIIZE for the great job they did.
Host HoonD wanted to know if the performance with RIIZE was “physically difficult” for them, and Yunho hilariously revealed the two veteran idols felt like they “almost died” while practicing alongside the younger idols for the performance. Changmin added that the RIIZE members didn’t seem to become tired, regardless of how much they worked.
The RIIZE members amazed TVXQ with one particular part of their choreography, which required them to jump vertically. They noted that the RIIZE members gained considerable height when they jumped, shocking them.
The 5th gen group’s impressive performance led to a little friendly competition, as Yunho admitted he and Changmin felt they had to keep up with RIIZE to set an example as their senior labelmates.
Yunho hilariously shared that it only led the 2nd gen group to feel their age.
Of course, the competitive spirit was all in good fun, and TVXQ couldn’t hold back their praise for their newest labelmates, adding that they wanted to thank them again for their successful collaboration stage.
