Then Vs. Now: TXT’s Beomgyu Has An Introspective New Answer To What Really Makes Him Happy In Life
TXT‘s Beomgyu bared his soul in his latest interview with Weverse Magazine. He reflected on his changing personality, how he puts “every ounce of effort” into perfecting a stage, and his current idea of happiness.
Regarding the latter, Beomgyu was once again asked to explain what makes him happy: “Your idea of happiness changes every year. What does happiness mean to you at the moment?”
THEN
Last year, he mentioned that he enjoys the small, constant things in life. This manifests itself in his relationships with other people.
Just everyday life. It doesn’t come from problems clearing up or doing anything special—I’m just happy living my everyday life. I didn’t have too many friends other than my members before, but lately I have more and more friends I can talk with and rely on, and that’s been a weight off my shoulders.

A K-Pop idol who he considers one of his closest friends is Heeseung, the all-rounder and center of ENHYPEN. The two are labelmates under HYBE and cross paths in the company building, television programs, big award shows, and more.
It was the latter, particularly the “Legend of K-Pop” stage in the 2021 KBS Song Festival, that brought them together.
Most notably, I became really close with Heeseung while we were doing the joint performance with ENHYPEN.

Fans have seen them interact several times over the past few months. One of the most public displays of their friendship was when Beomgyu joined Heeseung for the ENHYPEN “ParadoXXX Invasion” challenge on TikTok.

Behind the scenes, the two are even closer than what people may expect. Beomgyu couldn’t help but praise Heeseung’s humor and gush over their shared fondness for playing online games.
He’s a funny guy, for one and we go to bed at similar times and we’re both into gaming.
— Beomgyu
Heeseung is someone the TXT member trusts wholeheartedly. Because of him and his other friends, Beomgyu lives a happy life each day.
We grew closer after talking about this and that, and I made more friends one by one, and now we can rely on each other and have fun together.

NOW
A year later, his idea of happiness has deepened. He did not specifically mention anyone as his source of joy but rather expounded on the importance of keeping negative emotions like stress at bay.
That’s hard for me again lately, actually. I used to try and look for happiness around me in easy ways, but lately, rather than chasing some vague idea of happiness, I’ve felt it’s important to deal with the situations immediately facing me and do so wisely. It’s possible for negative emotions to creep in when you’re busy like this and there’s less time to sleep and there’s limits on how you can deal with the stress. I always end up regretting it later on if I let those emotions take over me.
— Beomgyu
Finally, he emphasized that having mental fortitude will pay off in the short and long term. Being able to have peace of mind is his priority in order to truly be happy.
But if you get a grip on those passing emotions and overcome them, time keeps passing anyway, and you don’t have to pay any mind to unnecessary things as a result. I feel more relaxed lately after practicing that.
