TXT’s Hueningkai Opens Up About How His Personality As A Trainee Impacted The Group’s Dynamic
Hueningkai was recently featured in an interview with Weverse Magazine to promote the group’s “Sugar Rush Ride” comeback.
In his feature, he opens up about his maturity over the years and how his relationship with his fellow members has changed since debut.
Hueningkai debuted when he was only 16 years old and had spent two years and six months as a trainee. According to him, he was “so childish” as a trainee that he felt it impacted his connection with his fellow members.
I wasn’t grown up yet when I was a trainee and I was so childish (laughs) so I don’t think I really earned much trust from the other members.

While the members are all close now, there’s one member in particular who Hueningkai claims changed his personality.
In 2021, TXT updated fans on their dorm arrangement and revealed that Yeonjun, Soobin, and Beomgyu have their own rooms while maknaes Taehyun and Hueningkai share a room.
That same year, Hueningkai revealed during a fan sign event that his MBTI type changed from ENFP to ISTP, and he said the change was thanks to rooming with Taehyun.
I hear about what he’s thinking a lot since we’re roommates, so I think I naturally came to understand him. That must be how we both ended up as Ts. (laughs) There’s times when it’s good to look at things rationally and I used to be an F so I think my strong point is that I can understand both sides.
— Hueningkai
He finds the change amazing, as ISTPs typically keep to themselves and are organized and logical, while ENFPs live more freely, openly, and creatively.
Hueningkai shared that he used to be really emotional and even contemplated leaving the company a few times while he was a trainee. Over the years, his busy schedule has “dulled [his] capacity to express emotions,” and he’s been working hard to manage his emotions not to effect the other members.
We’re all working together and all have hard times and I don’t want to pass my troubles on to them.
— Hueningkai
He made it his goal to earn the older members’ trust after debut, and now that they’ve been living together for so long, he shared that they’ve become “just like family.”
The members of TXT are all selflessly in pursuit of the same dream and have grown closer through their combined efforts.
Now, even if one of us feels like giving up, the other four can keep things moving along and help each other out.

Hueningkai recently revealed the group collectively decided on a major sacrifice ahead of the year-end performances in 2022. Check out more on that in the article below!
