TXT’s Yeonjun And Beomgyu Almost Lost All Interest In Performing—Here’s Why
People undergo harsh training in entertainment companies to improve their singing, dancing, and rapping skills—even if it takes years to see the end. Once they beat all odds and make their debut, they perform in showcases, music shows, and concerts. It isn’t an exaggeration to say that the main job of a K-Pop idol is to perform on stage.
On March 5 and 6, boy group TXT held MOA X TOGETHER, their first in-person “fanlive” event since the COVID-19 pandemic struck and public events were postponed.
In the fanlive, Yeonjun opened up about the difficulty he faced during the pandemic as an artist.
The hardest part for him was facing an empty venue every time he went on stage. It was so disheartening that he admitted to almost losing all interest in performing.
I had been looking at empty seats with no MOA while performing all that time that I almost actually lost interest in performing a little.

Similarly, Beomgyu admitted that COVID-19 made him lose sight of who he was performing for. It was only when he saw fans in person through the event that he remembered why he wanted to be an idol.
To be honest, once COVID-19 started, I felt like I didn’t even know what we were performing for, but over the two days of this fanlive, I think I found out why I became a singer and wanted to perform this much.
— Beomgyu
Yeonjun and Beomgyu’s confession shows the important role that fans play in determining a group’s enjoyment on stage. It just isn’t the same without the presence of fans to cheer them on!
