TXT’s Yeonjun Spills On How His Perspective On Performing Changed After “2022 Lollapalooza”
2022 was a massive year for TXT. The group made their anticipated comeback with Minisode 2: Thursday’s Child, shocking fans when they departed from their usual boy-next-door image into a darker, more mature concept.
The comeback was a major success, and the fourth mini-album became the group’s first million seller since their debut.
Following their comeback, the group was able to embark on their first world tour after two years of COVID-19-related restrictions and uncertainties, successfully selling out the U.S. leg of the tour.
After the group ended the U.S. leg of their tour with two nights at Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on July 23 and 24, the group returned to Chicago to officially become the first K-Pop group to perform at the popular Lollapalooza music festival.
The group went viral for their incredible performance, giving their all to the choreography while proving their mics were on.
They even flexed their music industry connections, bringing Puerto Rican rapper iann dior onstage to perform their collaboration song “Valley of Lies.”
TXT’s performance at Lollapalooza had current fans falling even more in love and captured the hearts of many locals as well.
In his recent feature with Weverse Magazine, TXT’s Yeonjun reflected on how the group’s appearance at the annual rock festival impacted him.
The group’s oldest member shared that the TXT’s performance at the rock festival allowed him to reflect on why he became an idol.
It was a valuable time to reflect on why I do this line of work. I got started in this because of how much I love the stage.

Yeonjun shared that the group has “so many restrictions” in their daily life that he truly only feels free on stage.
We can’t do everything we want in the course of our everyday lives. There’s so many restrictions. But when it comes to the stage, I can do anything I want. So I think I want to do whatever I want to the fullest no matter what people say.

Their Lollapalooza performance and the reaction from the crowd gave Yeonjun a new goal and changed the way he approached songwriting.
In the US they sang and danced in front of us however they wanted without feeling self-conscious. After Lollapalooza, I really thought I just want to be a massive rock star. So I tried writing songs that everyone could dance to and have fun and just enjoy themselves to.
— Yeonjun
He isn’t currently ready to share songs about his personal stories with fans. Still, the talented idol already has songwriting and composition credits on multiple TXT songs that fans can enjoy.
During his interview with Weverse Magazine, Yeonjun also opened up about the surprising shirtless pictures included in the group’s comeback concept photos. Check out more on that in the article below!
