The Ultimate Guide To Voting For The “2023 MAMA Awards” As A Foreign Fan
The MAMA Awards are arguably one of the most known awards ceremonies, honoring K-Pop artists for their achievements.
On October 19, the list of nominees was announced, inspiring some mixed feelings from fans who believed many artists were “robbed.”
Certain criteria are shared for each category, usually a mixture of album sales, streams, and judges’ choices. However, unlike many other awards shows, two categories have a voting aspect that fans can participate in.
Even more uniquely, foreign fans can vote in these categories,
“Worldwide Icon of The Year” and “Worldwide Fan’s Choice” have always been fan-voted but have changed in approach slightly from year to year. This year’s pre-vote is located in the Mnet+ app.
When opening the app, someone wishing to vote can simply click on the banner featuring MAMA Awards imagery to be taken to the voting area. Once there, a large button with the words “Vote Now” will take you to the pre-voting category.
You can then scroll through the list and select up to three artists from the nominee pool to vote from. You will then be taken to a confirmation screen to watch a short video to have your votes counted.
The other way fans can vote for these categories is through listening to the song on Spotify. You can find the playlist manually or use the Mnet+ App to be led to it.
Once there, according to the instructions, a vote is cast by listening to any song for at least 30 seconds. Through this method, only the first three streams per day are counted.
Finally, for the categories without a voting aspect, the best way for fans to help influence the winner is by streaming their favorite artists’ songs or purchasing albums.
The Pre-Vote is set to close on October 30 at 11:59 pm, KST, so don’t forget to vote for your faves!
