The Impressive Way A Top K-Pop Artist Spent Her First Paycheck
Jessica Jung is a former member of Girls’ Generation, one of the top K-Pop girl groups of all time who is currently working as a solo artist.
To promote her latest comeback, she sat down for an interview with The Daily Ketchup Podcast.
Towards the end of the video, she was asked to name what she spent her first big paycheck on. She revealed that she had earned enough to permanently move her family from across the world.
I think I moved. I moved my family home.
— Jessica
Jessica was born in San Francisco, California, in 1989. While on a break to South Korea, she was spotted by a scout from SM Entertainment and invited to join the company alongside her sister, Krystal.
She left the United States and became a trainee in 2000, debuting seven years later as a member of the legendary girl group Girls’ Generation.
With her first big paycheck as a K-Pop idol, she was able to pay for a house that her entire family could live in. She has since bought newer properties with her subsequent paychecks.
After moving her family to be closer to her, Jessica earned enough to buy something solely for herself: her own car.
Host: People buy a car or a nice watch.
Jessica: Oh, that was second.
Girls’ Generation released several hit songs throughout their career such as “Gee” (2009), “Genie” (2009), “I Got a Boy” (2013) and more.
