Here’s What YG Entertainment Groups Have In Common When They Debut
YG Entertainment is a powerhouse of a company with renowned producers and artists under their belt. They have also consistently debuted strong male and female idols with a bang. As they’re getting ready to debut their first boy group since iKON, TREASURE, fans have noticed an interesting thing the groups have in common.
Four groups debuted in August! BIGBANG debuted on August 19, 2006 with “We Belong Together”…
…WINNER debuted on August 17, 2014 with “Empty”…
…BLACKPINK debuted on August 8, 2016 with “BOOMBAYAH” and “WHISTLE”…
…and finally, TREASURE will debut on August 7, 2020!
Moreover, the debuts were absolute hits in the entertainment industry. 2NE1‘s song “Fire” not only garnered over a million views in 24 hours, but it also won “Best Music Video” at the 2009 Mnet Asian Music Awards while “I Don’t Care” won “Song of the Year”.
Even six years since their debut, WINNER is still attributed for being one of the fastest groups to win first place on a music show. They brought home the trophy from MCountdown on August 21.
BLACKPINK further reached new heights with their 2016 debut. “BOOMBAYAH” and “WHISTLE” ranked first and second place respectively in Billboard‘s World Digital Song Sales chart while the latter track also topped multiple digital and streaming charts on Gaon. BLACKPINK won first place on Inkigayo just 13 days after their debut.
