IU releases spoiler for new song
On November 29th, IU posted a spoiler for her new song, titled “Knee” as a voice reply on DC Inside, a South Korean internet forum.
The song is very reminiscent of IU’s debut material, accentuating her sweet and angelic voice. Although the release of the two minute spoiler was not publicized by IU or her label LOEN Entertainment, her fans quickly spread the song around the internet. Unlike many of the singer’s newest songs, “Knee” doesn’t emphasize IU’s powerful vocals, but rather on her soft and lovely voice that earned her the title Nation’s Little Sister a couple of years ago. Along with the song, the singer also posted a selca for her fans on the forum.
Accompanied by just an acoustic guitar, the song, which can be classified as a lullaby for its lyrics and soft melody, is really a throwback to classic IU, and so far her fans are loving it. Despite the sad lyrics, fans could not help but be excited about the prospects of a new release by the singer.
IU has had a very successful year so far. Her EP A Flower Bookmark performed extremely well on the charts, and her collaboration track with rookie group HIGH4, “Not Spring, Love, or Cherry Blossoms,” topped Korean music charts and reached over 10 million views on YouTube. The singer even took home the Best Artist of the Year award at the 2014 MelOn Music Awards, and is also set to perform at the 2014 MAMA.
