Kim Yeon Woo introduces his favorite songs on “MelOn Playlist”
On December 4th, Kim Yeon Woo appeared on 1theK‘s MelOn Playlist, where he shared which songs have inspired him throughout his musical career.
Kim Yeon Woo, known for his ballad singing, surprises viewers with both his Korean and English song choices.
As he introduced the Scorpions‘ song “Wind of Change,” he mentions how he tries to imitate their lead singer’s, Klaus Meine, voice as he sings. Kim Yeon Woo notes how Klaus Meine’s signature nasal voice produces a sharp note that the artist tries to incorporate in his singing. “He sings it so easily but that’s a ‘G’ [note],” leaving him in awe.
With Led Zeppelin‘s “Highway to Heaven,” he mentions “Robert Plant‘s voice is very tough and harsh, but also sexy and husky at the same time.” Listening this song prompted him to practice night and day to master this skill. He finishes his interview by admitting, “This artist is the one who made me who I am today.”
Kim Yeon Woo is a singer known for his high notes in his ballads and has lent his voice to various OSTs over the years. Earlier this year, he has released his mini album Move. Currently, Kim Yeon Woo has returned with his new single Melt Away.
