XXX makes an electric debut with “Flight Attendant”
With Korean pop music experiencing somewhat of a creative renaissance recently, electric music and rap have come together in the form of rookie duo XXX.
The pair, which consists of rapper Kim Ximya and producer FRNK, has been highly anticipated by fans as well as renowned labels and media because of their unique combination of talent. Although their two musical styles are unquestionably different, Kim Ximya’s rapping paired with FRNK’s creative beats meld together surprisingly well, with many critics praising XXX’s album for its experimental and genre-defying qualities.
On July 9th, XXX released their debut album as well as the music video for their track “Flight Attendant” under their label Beasts And Natives. Their album KYOMI, which features contributions from internationally renowned producer 250 (who produced E Sens‘s “Flight”) and two-time Grammy Award-winning mastering engineer Vlado Meller (who’s worked with world class artists including Kanye West, Michael Jackson, Celine Dion, Oasis and Frank Ocean), has been referred to as a rap-electronic hybrid.
The music video for the title track “Flight Attendant,” an 8-bit dot animated cartoon by Paris-based animator Mattis Dovier, takes place inside of a commercial airplane symbolizing the modern consumer society. “Flight Attendant,” along with the seven other songs on XXX’s debut album KYOMI, are all available for purchase on Melon, Genie, Naver and other various online music stores. The full album will also be available on iTunes starting July 9th at 3:00 PM KST.
